On top of the world...

So the day started kind of rough because I was battling with some conversations with a friend from the day before. But then I went to studio to mix/master the NovaChild material and saw a session open already. I was SO EXCITED to find it was one of the tracks I worked on with Dr. J! He had drum parts on it!!!! I listened to a bit and they sounded incredible, and about then Matt Mellinger walked in and I looked at him and asked him if he played this, and it was him! This guy is like one of the greatest drummers I've known and he's playing on songs I wrote! I've never had other people play real instruments on songs I wrote! It made my day, my month, and my year! It's amazing how reborn you feel when you know someone else cares about your music and you get to end your day knowing your music is progressing and not you working and someone else's music progressing. It's a beautiful day, I'm out...

In the Studio with Dr. J!

So I'm getting ready to head to the studios to continue tracking with the fabulous Dr. Michael Johnson on my solo project! Yesterday was the first day and it was awesome (besides the fact that I kept messing up.) I've never had someone sit behind the board for me and actually take the time to produce my material. Wow, what a great guy. Not only is he great, but he's incredibly talented at this stuff...I can't wait to hear what he does! It's just a good feeling to show up to a session and find that someone's already set up and that it's for you. Then he points at me and says "play" and I play and then wait and he says "play again." It's awesome, now I know why people love being in the studio! DR. JOHNSON MAKES DREAMS COME TRUE...this is so exciting...

In other news, Josh gets back today from Texas and we go into studio immediately the next day. I'm finished tracking with the NovaChild guys yesterday and will be finishing up their mixes this week!

As far as the break-in situation...well, here's the run down of what I know or have been told so far...

Since the last time I posted, I found out that the mess was caused by a campus security person chasing a cat around my apartment with a golf club. Then the cat was left in their for three days! So I was somewhat comforted in knowing that no one broke into my house...then as I was moving some boxes, I sat down a box on Nick's TV stand and thought, "I could never do that before...wait a minute...there used to definately be a TV there!!!" I called Nick to see if he just took it home with him...he didn't :( I talked to the person that was chasing the cat and he mentioned something about the cat running through Nick's open bedroom door, but the door wasn't opened when we left...then the house (that consists of 3 apartments and 8 guys) had a meeting, except that I wasn't invited...and apparently those guys were told that campus security had caught someone living in my apartment with a duffle bag! Did they arrest him? Nope, just let him go, and now half of campus has been robbed! Holy cow...

Anyway, I gotta get some breakfast and head to the studio...I'll post more later...

Lots of crap...

So I finally got back to campus today and notice a hole cut out of the blinds of my house. I go inside to find the place ravaged and smelling like poop. At first, I thought that an animal of somekind got inside, but then I noticed a glass of water and food left out on the floor. This would mean the small animal would have had to gotten into the cupboard, gotten itself a glass and a bowl and poured itself water and left itself food. Highly unlikely...upon further inspection, it appears someone has been living in our kitchen (or Nick's bedroom) because my room was still locked and everything was still in place, but Nick's room was unlocked and had pop tarts on the floor. There were also Nick's DVDs laying allover the kitchen floor and the bathroom floor was covered in feces and urine, beautiful...anyway, I'm waiting on campus security and the police to come check it out...I'll keep everyone posted...
